A quiet morning is a doorway
Step through before the noise arrives.

A quiet morning is a doorway. It opens before the messages, before the lists, before the weather of other people enters the room.
If I step through it gently, the day seems to meet me differently. A glass of water, a little light, a few unhurried breaths: these are small hinges, but they move a large door.
The practice is simple. Begin before the noise. Let the first thing you give attention to be something that returns you to yourself.
